“These off-the-charts PFAS levels represent a direct and immediate threat to the public health of the Commonwealth,” said Kyla Bennett, a former scientist at the EPA who now serves as director of Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility in New England, an advocacy group. “Without greater focus and urgency, Bay Staters will be drinking these toxic chemicals for a generation.” She and other advocates have urged Massachusetts and other states to adopt standards that protect residents from exposure to the chemicals and install technology to filter them out of public water systems."
