"There’s a new report that says wildlife refuges across the nation are woefully understaffed. The Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility says 357 of the country’s 743 wildlife refuges lack management positions, and about half of all refuges use consolidated, “complexed” management structures, consolidating parks under a single manager. As a result, staff has declined by about 15 percent over the last 10 years."
