“The GAO report also found that the federal government doesn’t keep a single source of comprehensive, timely, and publicly available data on political appointees. The GAO report is “consistent with the administration’s disrespect for good management norms,” said Peter Jenkins, senior counsel at Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility. “It’s consistent with the hollowing-out of the mid-level appointees that are needed, and not holding them up to ethical norms."
