“In December, a Maryland-based nonprofit group called Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility sent a letter to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service challenging the validity of a 1975 study used by the agency to create many of its carnivore management plans. The letter, which was cosigned by scientists and environmental groups, asks the USDA to take the study out of consideration and revaluate how predators, such as coyotes, should be managed."
